The HF-only sibling of the DX-70, released in the late 1990s with the VHF/6m section dropped in favor of a simpler, more affordable dedicated 160-10m transceiver. It delivers 100W on SSB/CW/FM (40W AM) with a general-coverage receiver, and Alinco marketed it as an accessible, lower-cost entry into HF operating. Without the DX-70's multi-band trick, it instead appealed to buyers who only wanted HF at a lower price. It still shows up regularly on the secondhand market as an inexpensive, straightforward first or backup HF rig.
