R.L. Drake's very first transceiver, introduced in 1963 as an all-tube, 19-tube design covering 80-10m SSB/CW/AM at around 300W PEP input. Its release marked Drake's entry into the transceiver market after years of building matched receiver/transmitter pairs, and it established the build quality and audio reputation the company carried through its later TR-4 and TR-7 successors. As Drake's founding transceiver, it's primarily a collector's piece today, valued for historical significance and vacuum-tube construction rather than daily use, with complete, working examples becoming increasingly scarce.
