Introduced in 2001, the IC-706MkIIG is the third and most capable version of Icom's original all-in-one mobile concept, covering HF through 70cm in a small remote-head unit with a detachable front panel. It became one of the most widely owned mobile/base HF+VHF/UHF radios of the 2000s thanks to its compact size and broad band coverage, and decades later it's still one of the most frequently traded rigs on the used market.
