Introduced in the early 1980s, the IC-730 is an entry-level HF base transceiver from Icom's early digitally-synthesized generation, offering a simpler analog-filter receiver design than the later 735/751A models. It was one of the more affordable HF options of its time and is now traded mainly as a restoration project or budget classic rather than an everyday operating rig.
