Introduced in the early-to-mid 1980s, the IC-731 is a general coverage HF base transceiver from the same era as the IC-730 and IC-735, sitting in the middle of Icom's HF lineup at the time with a conventional analog-IF receiver. It's a lesser-known sibling to the more common IC-735 and mostly appears on the used market as a vintage-collector purchase.
