Introduced in the mid-1990s, the IC-736 combines HF and 6m coverage with a built-in power supply and antenna tuner in a compact base-station package, aimed at operators who wanted an all-in-one HF+6m rig without stacking separate accessories. It predates Icom's later 746/756 lines but shares the same general-coverage HF+6m concept in an earlier, simpler DSP-free design.
