The TS-440S, introduced in 1986, is an all solid-state, general-coverage HF transceiver from the generation that succeeded Kenwood's hybrid tube-final designs. It offered 100W output, memory channels, and IF shift in a mid-priced desktop package aimed at general amateur use rather than top-tier contesting. As one of the more common all-band Kenwood rigs of the late 1980s, it's frequently found on the used market in working condition.
