The TS-530S, from the late 1970s S-line era, is a hybrid HF transceiver using solid-state circuitry in the driver stages and a pair of 6146B vacuum tubes in the final amplifier, a common design approach before fully solid-state finals became standard. It predates the TS-830S and shares that model's tube-final architecture and general operating character. CW operators in particular still favor its receiver, and it remains a recognizable classic among vintage Kenwood/Trio collectors.
