Introduced in 1995 as the second generation of Yaesu's FT-1000 flagship line, the FT-1000MP is a 100W HF-only base transceiver built around dual independent receivers with twin passband tuning — a favorite architecture among serious DXers and contesters for working split pileups. It replaced the original FT-1000/FT-1000D with a smaller cabinet and added DSP filtering. Later superseded by the higher-power Mark V version, the standard MP is still respected for its receiver performance and remains a benchmark rig among collectors of 1990s flagship HF gear.
