Introduced in 1982, the FT-102 is a tube-final HF transceiver (using three 6146 output tubes) built as a premium successor to Yaesu's earlier hybrid FT-101/FT-901 lines, aimed at operators who still wanted the audio character and rugged simplicity of a tube final stage in a more modern chassis. It features dual metering and general-coverage receive across 160-10m. As one of the last high-end tube-final HF rigs Yaesu produced before the industry moved fully solid-state, it holds a specific niche among collectors of late tube-era gear.
