Introduced in 1986 as the flagship of Yaesu's GX-series HF line, the FT-767GX distinguished itself with an internal modular design that could accept optional plug-in VHF/UHF (and later satellite-capable) modules, letting one base unit cover HF plus 6m/2m/70cm bands. Its all-solid-state 100W HF design paired with true multi-band expandability made it unusually versatile for a mid-1980s rig, and clean examples with the VHF/UHF modules installed are particularly sought after by collectors today.
