About this radio
The Elecraft K3S is a 100W base/mobile HF/6m transceiver introduced in 2014 as an upgrade to the original K3, keeping the same modular superheterodyne architecture with selectable roofing filters but adding a faster DSP, improved receiver dynamic range, and higher-speed band switching. It was built and sold as a kit or factory-assembled, a hallmark of Elecraft's approach. For years it was considered a benchmark receiver among contesters and DXers for the price, and used K3S units still command solid prices on the secondhand market relative to newer flagship SDR competitors.
