The TS-480HX is the high-power sibling of Kenwood's TS-480 series, putting out up to 200W instead of the standard 100W, aimed at operators who wanted more power from the same compact, detachable-head chassis without adding a separate amplifier. Unlike the TS-480SAT, it does not include a built-in antenna tuner, trading that convenience for the higher output stage. It shares the same general coverage receiver and mobile-friendly form factor as the rest of the 480 line.
