Released around 1980, the TS-830S is a hybrid HF transceiver with a pair of 6146B tubes in the final amplifier stage, delivering roughly 220W PEP on SSB and 180W on CW, and covering 160–10m including the WARC bands. It was the direct successor to the TS-820S and is considered one of the more refined tube-final Kenwood/Trio designs. It remains popular with vintage-radio operators for its solid receiver and classic S-line construction.
