Introduced in 1999, the FT-847 is an all-band, all-mode transceiver covering HF, 6m, 2m and 70cm with full-duplex satellite operating capability built in — a rare feature that made it, for years, one of the standard radios recommended for amateur satellite work. It outputs around 100W on HF/6m and 50W on VHF/UHF. Its combination of HF and full-duplex VHF/UHF satellite support in a single compact box gave it a long-lived, loyal following, and clean examples remain sought after specifically by satellite operators.
