Introduced in 1997, the original IC-756 was the first radio in Icom's 756 line, bringing DSP-based IF filtering to a mainstream HF+6m base transceiver ahead of the later Pro, Pro II and Pro III revisions. It established the general-coverage, DSP-filtered concept the rest of the 756 family would build on, and it's now the least common and most dated of the four 756-series models on the secondhand market.
