Released around 2006, the FT-2000 sat between Yaesu's mid-range and flagship HF tiers, offering a dual-receiver architecture, DSP IF filtering and 100W output (200W in the FT-2000D variant with a built-in amplifier) in a more compact and affordable package than the contemporary flagship FTdx9000. It was a popular choice for operators wanting genuine dual-receive DXing/contest capability without flagship pricing, and its receiver performance was well regarded relative to its price class at the time.
